About The Team

This role will be part of the team responsible for Government & Corporate Affairs, Regulatory & Public Policy in our Company. The qualified candidate will be responsible for owning and delivering specific communications activities and campaigns. He/ she will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with key federal ministry and state government as well as government agencies related to the Company and our business in Malaysia

Job Description

  • Establish relationship with relevant governments stakeholders and serve as our team liaison with government stakeholders.
  • Establish key partnerships with public sector organizations to help us achieve our social mission.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity of regulatory, public policy and public affairs within the industry. Participate in strategic advisory on public affairs.
  • Work with the business teams, develop strategic action plans and initiatives to achieve our business goals.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct analysis of policy, monitor status of legislation, develop and recommend positions on the changing stakeholder environment with potential impact on the Company. Identify requirement from the government which closely relates to our business, followed by coordination with business teams and regional resources to either influence or provide consultancy service to the government.

Requirements

  • Candidate should have a Degree/Master degree in Logistics, Business, Legal, Political Science, Mass Communications or related discipline with 5-10 years’ experience in planning, research, business development and /or stakeholder relations with proven strengths in the following:
  • Good stakeholder and crisis management skills. An ability to grasp complex issues quickly and communicate those issues concisely, accurately and within timescales.
  • Highest ability to work independently and in conjunction with the Head of Government Affairs, represent and back up lead as necessary.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills.
  • A high level of self-motivation, initiative and independence will be critical. A good knowledge of the federal government operation and the ability to establish and maintain a good range of key stakeholder contacts
  • Strategic thinking ability; good negotiation & influencing skills; organizational sensitivity.
  • Excellent follow through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others.
  • Good track record in significant outreach to government, regulators and other external audiences.
  • Excellent writing skills. Prepare special and highly detailed written and oral reports on frequently complex and sensitive issues, as required by the management.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented with a strong focus in meeting stakeholder expectation
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships/ongoing dialogue with Business Groups to develop a strong knowledge of the workings of these businesses, identify proactive communication opportunities and potential negatives issues.
  • Can identify corporate reputation priorities directly aligned to business objectives in the operating environment
