About Our Client

This company is one of the largest PCBA tooling manufacturers, provide high-quality engineering solutions, including product design, process development, and quality assurance across various industries. This company is currently undergoing a factory expansion, and is looking for a Plant Director to oversee the day to day operations in the current plant.

Job Description

Lean Manufacturing

  • Focus on Efficiency: Implement and maintain lean manufacturing practices throughout the production areas.
  • Demand-Driven Production: Ensure production aligns with customer demand, using methods like Takt time, cell structure, Kanban, SMED, TPM.


Mentorship and Training

  • Skill Development: Guide and support the training of CNC machinists, programmers, CAD designers, assemblers, and planners.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure necessary resources are available for training and development.


Recruitment

  • Talent Acquisition: Identify, evaluate, and select qualified manufacturing employees for various roles.


Production Management

  • Order Prioritization: Schedule and coordinate customer orders based on priorities.
  • Team Leadership: Manage staff through performance management, goal setting, coaching, and evaluation.
  • Issue Resolution: Address daily challenges and monitor performance related to staffing, scheduling, quality, tooling, maintenance, etc.
  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to attendance, overtime, company policies, and procedures.


Quality Assurance

  • Product Inspection: Monitor work in progress and inspect final products for quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with other departments to ensure overall quality.


Inventory Management

  • Cost Optimization: Monitor inventory levels to maintain cost-effectiveness and ensure adequate supply.


Staffing and Resource Allocation

  • Staffing Authorization: Approve and allocate staffing for production.
  • Team Support: Provide guidance and assistance to production leads in managing their areas, scheduling, and achieving team goals.


Leadership and Culture

  • Fill-in Role: Act as a backup for production leads when needed.
  • Culture Building: Foster a departmental culture that emphasizes safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.
  • Direct Supervision: Oversee production, engineering, quality, warehouse/shipping, planning, and purchasing for the plant.


The Successful Applicant

  • Experience working in the contract manufacturing industry
  • Process development / Engineering experience preferred
  • Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing Processes / Toyota Production System Methodologies (5s, Gemba walks, Six Sigma, reduction of waste (Muda, Muri, Mura), Kanban, SMED)
  • Supervisor/Management Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required
  • Experienced with metal (stainless steel, titanium, aluminum) and plastics machining preferred
  • Knowledgeable of CNC machine tools is preferred by not required; CNC Horizontal and Vertical Mills, 5-Axis, Lathes, and EDM.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (preferred). Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressively complex technical experience involving the latest state-of-the-art applications and techniques in production and project management experience. Three or more years of supervisory experience (Preferred).
