Accountabilities

  • Deliver near real-time formation evaluations to support drilling operations and provide guidance on data acquisition strategies.
  • Plan and manage cost-effective logging and coring programmes, including the design and analysis of RCAL/SCAL laboratory results, ensuring quality control and assurance.
  • Perform advanced petrophysical evaluations using well logs, core samples, and other subsurface data to identify hydrocarbon-bearing zones and assess reservoir properties.
  • Liaise with core laboratories to specify petrophysical analysis requirements and recommend best practices to ensure the acquisition of high-quality data.
  • Undertake reservoir characterisation studies to understand rock and fluid properties, developing rock typing from core and log data.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee petrophysical studies for reservoir characterisation and volumetric resource assessments.
  • Provide input for the development of both static and dynamic reservoir models.
  • Present findings and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams, senior management, Joint Venture Partners, and host authorities.
  • Implement innovative techniques to enhance petrophysical evaluations and workflows.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Geology or Earth Sciences.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in an exploration and production company or a service-related logging firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of MWD/LWD, wireline logging tools, and formation evaluation techniques.
  • Extensive experience in planning and overseeing data acquisition programmes, particularly well logging.
  • Proven experience in designing and ensuring quality control for laboratory analysis of rock properties.
  • Expertise in screening carbonate and coal formations, determining VSH/VCL, and optimising methods for log porosity and permeability calculations, calibrated against RCA/SCAL and DST data.
  • Proficiency in determining methods for water saturation calculations, including the use of saturation height functions and the calibration of J-Functions with log water saturation at observed contacts.
  • Skilled in the use of industry-standard petrophysical interpretation software such as Geolog, Techlog, and IP.
  • Familiarity with the evaluation of vintage logs.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working in multinational environments.
  • A self-motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation, organisation, communication, and interpersonal relations.
