Responsibilities:
- Own supplier evaluation criteria and scoring. Criteria should establish suppliers' ability to meet Quality, delivery, and cost needs.
- Drive new supplier selection with a disciplined and robust qualification process.
- Develop and grow a high-level engineering team that can partner with our supply chain to improve the capability and quality of the suppliers.
- Align capabilities of suppliers to the needs of Cohu products.
- High-level problem-solving for gaps in capability or quality with Cohu suppliers and the ability to drive improvement projects utilizing Lean/TPS methodologies, Six Sigma scorecards, and assessments.
- Direct the activities of the Supplier Development Engineers in Asia and partner with members of the rest of the worldwide Quality team to engage the supplier base and drive improvements.
- Utilize deep experience with Six Sigma, Lean/ Toyota Production System, and engineering experience to evaluate organizational capability and areas of improvement.
- Track the supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed Cohu’s needs.
- Support the manufacturing of complex parts and sub-assemblies by providing technical expertise and support for suppliers.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes to ensure they will yield parts compliant with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Create and participate in PFMEA activities, Work Instruction Improvements, and Control Plan effectiveness with suppliers.
- Drive improvements utilizing Six Sigma methodologies, Lean/TPS methods, supplier scorecards, and supplier assessments.
- Execute Supplier Development Engineering Playbook and Create a strategic improvement plan for each key supplier.
- Drive cross-functional engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance.
- Eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets and escalate as needed.
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering
- Experience with leading improvements with suppliers.
- Typically 8-10 years of relevant experience. Experience in industrial equipment, automotive, semiconductor, or medical manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience in leading teams at multiple sites, preferably in a global corporation.
- At least 5 years of managerial experience.
- Experience with Six Sigma. Black belt is preferred.
- Experience with Lean or the Toyota Production system. Certification preferred.
- Experience with machining, plating and/or assembly processes preferred.
- Knowledge of using Six sigma/quality Tools and APQP (PFMEA, Control plan, SPC MSA etc.)
- Experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Business management, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experience with project management and Kaizen facilitation.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret business performance and financial data, define actions, and implement solutions.
- Able to read technical drawings and documentation (GD&T) is preferred.
- Experience on performing production readiness & rate readiness reviews / assessments.
- Effective collaboration skills to motivate and influence others at various levels without a direct reporting relationship.
- Experience working with global suppliers/customers.
