The Position

The Communication Lead is responsible for owning the design and execution of a strategic, insight-driven communications plan that supports our company vision at the local level, leveraging resources, experience and expertise from the extended Roche network. She/he is also responsible for providing support and counsel to senior management, strengthening our reputation and handling crisis communications, when necessary. In addition, this person will help:

  • Cultivate and protect our corporate reputation through advocacy, stakeholder engagement and media relations
  • Raise awareness and visibility of Roche presence and impact in the Malaysia community and industry
  • Engage and inspire our people towards a shared vision while building a culture of accountability, collaboration, diversity, inclusion and trust

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster our reputation as a trusted partner: Build and deliver an integrated communications strategy to foster Roche Malaysia’s visibility, presence and voice as a trusted partner among stakeholders. Influence the public agenda to drive strategic conversations and business-critical priorities
  • Support Roche’s positioning and external affairs efforts: Build a policy narrative, draft speeches and develop a thought leadership plan to ensure we have a seat at the table and an effective voice in the external environment.
  • Act from a whole system perspective: Demonstrate an enterprise mindset and understand the big picture of how the organization’s strategy addresses the healthcare needs of the Malaysia market
  • Provide strategic, proactive activation of business-critical topics
  • Help connect and mobilise our people behind our vision and strategy: develop an internal communications strategy to foster a strong working environment and enabling our people to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully for our customers and patients
  • Build internal capability within our local teams: so that employees are able to adopt communication frameworks and ensure effective and timely communication


Who You Are
  • Communications experience in positions of responsibility in major corporations. Experience in the healthcare industry is desired
  • Understands the basic concept of market dynamics and business planning
  • Ability to lead a number of programs/projects simultaneously, and to be hands-on as well as strategic
  • Outstanding oral/written language skills in the local business language as well as English
  • Outstanding judgment with a balance of confidence, maturity, refinement and high energy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with senior leaders and matrixed functions and departments
