Job Responsibilities
- Client Engagement & Delivery:
- Lead and manage small engagement teams performing actuarial audits of life insurance and family takaful companies on the Malaysia RBC and MFRS17 bases.
- Oversee engagements in other life insurance practice areas, including pricing, risk and capital management, mergers and acquisitions, and modeling.
- Consistently deliver high-quality client services within deadlines, manage client expectations, and ensure stakeholder alignment throughout projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- Leverage strong actuarial technical capabilities to discuss complex matters with clients and team members.
- Stay updated on professional standards, industry regulations (e.g., Malaysia RBC, MFRS17), and firm policies, applying them effectively to client engagements.
- Assimilate new knowledge quickly, particularly in evolving areas like insurance regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
- Mentor and counsel team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Business Development:
- Actively contribute to business development efforts, including preparing proposals, developing presentations, and pursuing new client opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while collaborating with team members across various practices to meet client needs.
- Stay informed about business and industry trends that are relevant to your clients.
- Work alongside experienced senior actuaries across Asia, with backgrounds as former C-suite executives, partners of actuarial consultancies, and senior regulators.
- Enjoy continuous professional growth through a proprietary e-learning platform offering courses on IFRS17, AI, leadership, and well-being.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in actuarial, risk management, or related fields.
- University degree in actuarial science or a related field.
- Completion or significant progress in actuarial exams.
- Proficiency in Malaysia statutory valuation, RBC, and IFRS17.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas is an advantage:
- Financial reporting, capital management, enterprise risk management (ERM)
- Market Consistent Embedded Value, Economic Capital, Solvency II
- Actuarial software such as Prophet
- Family Takaful practices
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
