The Application Management Lead will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of applications, ensuring their reliability, performance, and alignment with business objectives. This role includes managing application support teams, optimizing performance, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application efficiency and meet evolving business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Application Oversight: Lead the management of applications across their entire lifecycle, from deployment to decommissioning, ensuring they adhere to performance, reliability, and security standards.
  2. Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a large team of application support specialists and engineers, providing guidance on best practices, technical troubleshooting, and career development.
  3. Incident and Problem Management: Manage incident and problem resolution processes, ensuring timely issue resolution and minimizing business impact. Implement root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  4. Performance Monitoring: Establish and maintain monitoring tools and processes to ensure optimal performance and availability of applications. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  5. Change Management: Oversee application changes, including upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Ensure changes are thoroughly tested, documented, and effectively communicated.
  6. Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including development, infrastructure, and business units, to understand requirements, resolve issues, and drive application improvements.
  7. Documentation: Ensure comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of application configurations, processes, and procedures.
  8. Compliance and Security: Ensure applications meet regulatory requirements and security policies. Enforce best practices in data protection and security compliance.
  9. Productivity Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance application management processes, tools, and practices. Leverage emerging technologies such as Gen AI to drive improvements. Demonstrate a proven track record of achieving 10% productivity improvements annually over five years.

Position Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are a plus.
  2. Experience: 10+ years of experience in application management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or team lead role.
  3. Experience with insurance applications and ITIL processes is highly preferred.
  4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
  5. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  6. Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in application management tools and platforms (e.g., monitoring tools, ticketing systems).
  • Strong understanding of application architectures, databases, and integration technologies.
  • Experience with insurance application landscape, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and application deployment processes.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools is a plus.
  1. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies and practices.
  • Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and best practices.
  • Knowledge of application performance management (APM) tools and techniques.
  • Experience in an insurance application environment and knowledge of all insurance functions and support.
