Job Description

This is a full-time role for a Data Engineer at MR DIY Malaysia. The Data Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Lead and participate in managing projects, eg: report automation, process automation
  • Assist team lead in developing AI, ML and Generative AI projects
  • Engage in in-depth discussions with clients to align business requirements and expectations, in order to design impactful data solutions
  • Work together with team lead in planning project timelines and resource requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and ensure successful implementation of requirements and requests
  • Proactively updating the team lead on the project status
  • Manage and mentor junior data engineers to ensure efficient execution and successful project development
  • Design and optimize data models in Big Query and write efficient SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation
  • Develop automated data pipelines using Apache Airflow

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modeling, particularly in Big Query
  • Experience with data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow
  • Experience with data manipulation using tools like pandas
  • Knowledge of data quality checks, validation processes, and data governance practices
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in the retail industry is a plus
