THE COMPANY

Our client is European MNC in the Chemicals Industry, headquarted in Netherlands. They are a leading global distribution partner and formulator of speciality chemicals and ingredients. They are looking for a Finance Manager (based in Penang) to join their team in Penang, reporting to the Finance Director (Malaysia).

THE ROLE

The Finance Manager will oversee the financial management and accounting functions of Eurochemo Pharma. In addition, this individual will manage working capital and handle treasury-related matters. Acting as a key business partner to the Managing Director, they will play a crucial role in driving medium- and long-term profitability, monitoring performance, and collaborating with various departments to support business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Act as the key expert for accounting systems (AutoCount, JDE) and reporting tools (OneSteam), addressing issues and security.
  • Manage year-end closing, liaise with auditors for stock take, and handle tax filings, estimates, and submissions to the Inland Revenue Authority.
  • Lead process improvements to streamline workflows and drive efficiency.
  • Communicate with external partners like banks, auditors, tax authorities, and advisors.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Supervise financial statements for statutory and group reporting, and oversee monthly closing activities.
  • Ensure financial and regulatory compliance, acting as the key contact for audits and tax matters.
  • Work with auditors and tax agents for timely statutory audits and coordinate with the corporate secretary for annual filings.
  • Address internal audit reviews and implement recommendations.

Performance Management & Controlling:

  • Assess business profitability, cost variances, KPIs, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Managing Director in optimizing working capital, stock reviews, and provisions.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term plans, presenting findings to management.
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc financial performance reports and promote strong collaboration between stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including 3 years with a Big 4 firm in external auditing.
  • Strong skills in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting systems (AutoCount, JDE) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Project management experience coordinating cross-departmental actions, with ERP rollout experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude, initiative, problem-solving mindset, and team player.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize and manage expectations.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, independent thinker with leadership abilities.
  • Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia.
