Reoles and Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
Conduct an individualized patient assessment and reassessment within the timeframe specified by the policy for newly admitted patients.
Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
Prepare individualized nursing care plans, reflecting collaboration with other team members.
Monitor patient status and vital signs, reporting any deviations/abnormal findings to the team leader and doctor on duty.
Carry out doctor’s orders accurately and promptly.
Provide individualized patient/family education as per their needs.
Document patient assessment findings, physical responses to nursing interventions, and status progress.
Initiate emergency and resuscitative measures as needed.
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
Maintain the required mandatory specific Medical Ward competencies.
Administer medications on time and as per doctor’s orders and HMG policy.
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
Follow the dress code policy.
Be flexible to meet hospital needs, including floating/pulling out to other departments.
Adhere to JCIA/CBAHI standards.
Provide clinical supervision and support to the assigned shift whenever assigned as shift in charge (team leader), ensuring that patients receive the required care. This includes conducting patient rounds, reporting unusual incidents to nursing supervision, and attending doctor rounds.
Attend doctor rounds and participate in the patient status presentation and endorsement.
Attend departmental education/training activities and meetings, and check emails.
Perform nursing procedures and interventions as per the scope of service in the
Medical Ward, including:
o Blood transfusion
o Spirometry
o Pre- and post-endoscopy procedure care
o Anticoagulant therapy
o Assisting in lumbar puncture
o Chest tube care o Tracheostomy care
o Care for patients transferred from LCU
o Total bedside patient care (bathing, hygiene)
o N/G feedings
o Blood extraction, IV insertion, and IV therapy
o Care for patients with diabetes/hypertension (common cases)
o Glucocheck
o Handle Medical Ward equipment, including:
Dinamap and pulse oximeter
DVT machine
Glucometer
ECG machine
Crash cart and other resuscitation equipment
Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
Enrich the patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned by the Charge Nurse/Head Nurse within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
