Job Description
About the Role:

Brooks is a prominent leader in the semiconductor industry, known for our innovative technology and sustainable solutions. As part of our strategic expansion in Malaysia, we are seeking experienced Supplier Development Engineers to join us and support our Greenfield manufacturing site in Johor Bahru.

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance and capabilities of our suppliers. Working as a member of the Sourcing team and reporting to the Supplier Development Director, you will be responsible for establishing partnerships with key suppliers to improve the quality and on-time delivery of supplied materials while achieving cost containment. You will work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to drive supplier improvements, as well as with supplier representatives to improve processes that impact supplied materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Performance Improvement:
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize supplier processes, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality materials and components.
  • Assessment and selection of Suppliers of key commodities including on-site and off-site supplier assessments.
  • Drives component qualifications and parts qualification processes for Brooks and its partners.
  • Drives Supplier Corrective / Preventive Action for problem resolution and continuous improvements (may include, CPK, Gauge R&R studies etc).
  • Participates in Material Review Board Activity – disposition and resolve non-conformance issues of supplied materials.
  • Generate Supplier Corrective Actions (SCAR) as required and follow up with Suppliers for completion/closure. (RCCA)
  • Establishment of Supplier performance metrics & conduct Supplier process and performance audits.
  • Capability Enhancement:
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to help suppliers meet and exceed company standards.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address potential risks in the supply chain, ensuring reliability and consistency.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to align supplier capabilities with our production needs.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Regularly assess supplier performance, conducting audits and providing feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with at least 5-7 years of relevant work experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience in supplier development within the Semiconductor or Electronics industry
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production equipment heavy Electromechanical experience a must.
  • Ability to write technical documents.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools and a working knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Requires about 40% domestic and / or international travel
  • CWI certification is preferred.
