Position Overview:

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant plays a critical role within the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) General Ledger team, overseeing the financial accuracy and compliance of entities within EMEA. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, EMEA, the GL Accountant is responsible for preparing statutory accounts and managing month-end financial processes for assigned entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Entity Oversight: Manage the financial reporting for key entities in the EMEA region, with an initial focus on France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. Entity assignments may be adjusted based on business needs and team dynamics.
  • Statutory Compliance: Work closely with external auditors and advisors by providing all necessary information and documentation for the preparation of statutory accounts, and other regulatory filings. This includes coordinating with internal departments, addressing auditor queries, and thoroughly reviewing the final filings to ensure accuracy.
  • Month-End Close: Execute the monthly management accounting close process, including journal postings, variance analysis, and any additional reporting requirements. Ensure all deliverables are completed in alignment with the group’s reporting timetable.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations using Blackline within prescribed deadlines. Identify and report any potential risks or opportunities.
  • Intercompany Reconciliations: Ensure the accurate reconciliation of intercompany balances with other entities within the group.
  • Payroll Coordination: Collaborate with the Payroll team to ensure payroll is reflected accurately in the month-end results.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Part Qualified Financial Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in statutory accounts preparation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Navision ERP and Blackline is advantageous; however, training will be provided.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements, including IFRS.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with auditors and various stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptable and open to change in response to business needs.
