We are looking for business analysts and/or paid interns to join our team in the Greater KL area.

Background about LASAJU Consulting

Our mission is to ‘Make Malaysia more Sustainable’. Over the past 10 years, LASAJU has helped NGOs, Government entities and Companies with sustainability related topics specifically in two focus areas:

  • We help organizations (especially large SMEs) to develop a comprehensive GHG strategy and to start reducing their GHG intensity ASAP.
  • We support companies, governments and NGOs in their circular economy journey from initial strategy to specific implementation to close the loop of products and packaging NOW.
  • We believe in the ‘boots to boardroom’ approach. While we synthesize results into strategies for senior decision makers, we ensure they are grounded in fact-based, quantitative analysis. Hence at LASAJU you will both:
  • Make fancy PowerPoint charts and Excel models, to collate, synthesize and present data to clients.
  • Get your hands (and boots) dirty to gather primary data, be it at recycling centers, factories, etc.

What we expect:

  • You need to have a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in any topic but with convincing grades. Your actual degree is less relevant than your ability to apply your learnings to new situations and to keep learning quickly. Of course, a strong understanding of environmental problems and solutions is preferred.
  • You like to be hands-on and get stuff done: To understand the existing GHG emissions or recycling value chains we need to get our hands dirty. We need to go into a plant or a waste chamber, we need to dig through fuel consumption data or sort recyclables.
  • You need to be analytically sharp and very quantitative: Solving environmental problems is often an economic problem. We need to measure and quantify the problem and estimate the cost of any solution before it can be implemented.
  • You need to have good language skills: We communicate with stakeholders at different levels - engage with communities, interview residents and discuss with government officials. Excellent spoken/written English and Bahasa Melayu is a must. Additional languages are an advantage.
  • You need to have good computer skills: You have solid existing work experience using MS office especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

What you can expect:

  • A very steep learning experience as you will be thrown immediately into the work. We will in parallel provide structured problem-solving training and on-the-job coaching from experienced consultants (ex-McKinsey).
  • Outrage & Optimism: We are extremely impatient as we are running out of time to solve the major environmental challenges of our time. We don’t spend a lot of time on social media appearances. The more important objective is to have real impact on the ground and tangible results.
  • Location: While we don’t have a permanent office, most of our work is based in the Greater KL area and you would need to spend most of your time here. Candidates from other Malaysian States (especially Sabah) are very welcome. We will jointly sort out the accommodation somehow.

We look forward to receiving your applications at [email protected]

Application deadline is September 22, 2024. Successful candidates will be contacted for an interview.
