Job Overview:
The Senior Manager of Data Centre Design will lead the strategic design and development of cutting-edge data centre facilities.
This position demands in-depth expertise in data centre architecture, engineering, and construction, with a specific emphasis on local implementation requirements and regulations.
The role will focus on designing efficient, cost-effective data centres that align with the company’s broader goals of innovation and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead a team of design professionals, providing clear direction and mentorship to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Develop and implement design strategies that are aligned with organizational business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of projects.
Design & Innovation:
- Oversee the complete design lifecycle of data centres, ensuring designs are scalable, innovative, and compliant with local regulations.
- Utilize modern technologies and design principles to optimize energy efficiency, cooling systems, and space utilization.
- Continuously identify and implement innovative design solutions to enhance cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.
Local Implementation & Compliance:
- Possess a strong understanding of local regulatory, environmental, and infrastructure considerations, ensuring compliance with all standards and best practices.
- Engage with local authorities and stakeholders to address and overcome regulatory challenges.
Cost Management:
- Lead cost management initiatives from the design phase to ensure projects stay within budget while maintaining quality.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through design practices, material selection, and vendor relationships.
- Monitor design-related expenses and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
Project Management:
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Manage resources, timelines, and stakeholder expectations, providing regular progress reports to senior leadership.
- Address risks proactively and devise mitigation strategies.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in data centre design, with a history of successfully managing large-scale projects.
- Extensive knowledge of local implementation challenges, including regulatory and environmental factors.
- Strong expertise in cost management and the ability to deliver cost-effective design solutions.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in data centre design (e.g., Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer, BICSI Data Centre Design Consultant).
- Experience with sustainable, green data centre design practices.
- Familiarity with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies.
