ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger (G/L), ensuring accurate statutory reporting and compliance, and addressing taxation issues pertinent to Medline’s Asia Emerging Markets (AEM) businesses. This is an individual contributor role that reports directly to the Financial Controller, AEM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Financial Controller to ensure Medline’s global monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines are met, are compliant with Medline’s accounting policies and procedures, and that accurate and reliable data is provided in the required format.
  • Ownership of the financial accounting function in AEM including preparation and maintenance of relevant accounting accruals to the trial balance level and reconciliations for all assigned financial accounts, including intercompany accounts. Responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the financial accounting G/L accounts for all nominated entities, including all intercompany loan and trade balances. This includes prompt follow-up and resolution of any accounting discrepancies to ensure accounts are “clean” and the “no-surprises” principle is applied.
  • Manage AP, AR and bank reconciliation for South East Asia entities.
  • Overall responsibility for taxation compliance, including the preparation and timely lodgment and payment of company income tax instalments and VAT and other local taxes for nominated entities.
  • Key liaison with external tax accountants to ensure annual ITR’s are accurate and lodged on time.
  • Key liaison with Medline global tax team regarding international tax issues and transfer pricing compliance.
  • Ownership of the interim and year end external audit requirements. Key liaison with external audit provider to ensure accurate and timely preparation of annual statutory Financial Statements in line with applicable accounting standards. Key liaison with external corporate affairs provider to ensure compliance with local corporate regulatory deadlines relating to statutory accounts and other corporate filings as required.
  • Provide financial oversight to ensure all payroll-related transactions are accurately recorded in the G/Ledger and reconciled monthly/annually.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly payroll and formula plan accruals and support the Financial Controller’s internal reporting obligations re executive compensation calculations.
  • Ensure that all payroll-related liabilities are adequately provisioned in financial accounts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll-related supporting documentation.
  • Support the Financial Controller to prepare Annual Operating Plan (AOP), quarterly Outlooks and Long Range Plan (LRP) as required.Understand the business drivers that impact actual and forecast financials.
  • Support the Financial Controller for Medline’s global reporting utilizing Oracle, Blackline and other global applications as required.
  • Support the Financial Controller to prepare annual insurance renewal schedules as required (local and global policies).
  • Respond to all relevant queries (including ad-hoc) from Medline global in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide function-relevant Finance expertise and assistance to non-Finance business units as required.
  • Actively seek process improvement opportunities within the Finance team; key member of any Finance-related system changes, including ERP upgrade projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accountancy or a professional certification (ACCA/CA/CPA) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial accounting role, including hands-on Financial Accounting function for a complex multi-entity organisation.
  • Experience in working cross functionally and collaboratively in a global organisation.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and practical knowledge of the principles of financial accounting and accounting standards in an import and distribution business.
  • Proven experience in external audit liaison/management in a multi-entity organisation.
  • Hands-on practical knowledge of tax reporting and compliance obligations.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and a problem-solving mindset to the Financial Accounting function
  • Advanced ERP, Excel, and MS Office skills
  • Superior organisational and time management skills with proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads to achieve multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for working in a corporate Finance team and a commitment to value-adding to the Medline business overall.
