Reporting to the Group MD.

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a communication strategy that aligns with the Group's business objectives, enhancing the corporate brand and reputation within the industry.
  • Direct Reporting: Act as the primary communications advisor to the Group MD, providing strategic counsel on all communication matters, including executive messaging and public relations.
  • Corporate Messaging: Craft and disseminate key messages that reflect the Group's vision, mission, and values, ensuring consistency across all communication platforms and business units.
  • Media Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with key media outlets, serving as the Group's spokesperson and managing media engagements to ensure positive coverage.
  • Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication strategies, advising the Group MD and senior management during critical incidents to protect and enhance the Group's reputation.
  • Internal Communications: Lead the creation and execution of internal communication programs that engage employees, promote transparency, and align staff with the Group's strategic goals.
  • Brand Management: Oversee the development and management of Group's brand identity, ensuring consistent and coherent branding across all subsidiaries and communication channels.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage communication with key stakeholders, including investors, government bodies, and industry partners, ensuring the Group's interests are effectively communicated and represented.
  • Team Development: Lead the establishment of the corporate communications function, including the recruitment and mentoring of team members to build a high-performing department.
  • Event Management: Organize and manage major corporate events, such as shareholder meetings, press conferences, and CSR initiatives, ensuring they align with the Group's strategic goals.
  • Measurement and Analysis: Monitor the effectiveness of communication strategies, using analytics to measure impact and adjust approaches as needed.

skills and experience required

  • Tertiary education, Masters are a added bonus
  • A strong track record of senior management and experience at corporate communications at the group level.
  • Great leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
