Position Summary:

The IT Procurement Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for IT-related goods and services. This role involves managing the full procurement lifecycle for IT categories, including hardware, software, cloud services, and IT consulting. Key Responsibilities:

Category Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for IT categories.
  • Analyze technology market trends, supply market dynamics, and emerging technologies.
  • Create and manage category plans to drive value, innovation, and risk mitigation.

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Lead sourcing activities for IT products and services, including the preparation of RFPs, RFQs, and supplier evaluations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with IT suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key IT suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and address any issues.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance and drive innovation.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with IT departments and other internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement strategies with organizational needs.
  • Provide procurement expertise and support for IT projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive IT procurement projects and objectives.

Market Analysis & Reporting:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the IT procurement landscape.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics, including savings, compliance, and supplier performance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and insights to senior management and other stakeholders.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with IT procurement and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure contracts and agreements are properly reviewed and managed.

Innovation & Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in IT procurement.
  • Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance procurement processes and drive technology value.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, ITIL) is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in IT procurement or category management (typically 8+ years).
  • Strong understanding of IT products, services, and technologies.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in procurement and IT management software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
