We are looking for a highly experienced Head of HSEQ for one of our global shipping clients. The Head of HSEQ will be responsible for overseeing, driving and ensuring that the company’s operations adheres to all relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years’ experience in leading the HSEQ function of a shipping company and has comprehensive knowledge of maritime rules, regulations and industry standards. He/she would have proven people management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and advance the development of the Company's HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) systems, ensuring compliance with flag state and company standards for vessels.
  • Update the senior management team on HSEQ issues and monitor operational statistics and training for onboard and office personnel.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team and fulfilling specific duties as required.
  • Conduct incident investigations as needed, based on qualifications and experience, and serve on the Document Review Committee for the senior management.
  • Assist with tender processes, HR Crew issues, and liaise with the Company Security Officer on Ship Security Assessments and Plans.
  • Lead Marine assurance processes for gas vessels, including SIRE, TMSA, and Rightship evaluations for the Dry Cargo Fleet. Support Marine and operational matters as needed and help improve operational manuals for managed vessel types.
  • Arrange and oversee vetting inspections for LNG/LPG vessels, maintain a database of deficiencies, and ensure approvals from charterers, terminals, and owners. Conduct pre-vetting inspections, train ship staff, and support operational matters for LNG/LPG Group vessels.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Maritime qualifications with preferred seagoing experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maritime rules, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Extensive experience in maritime HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality).
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for building relationships with shipboard staff, vessel owners, charterers, and auditing bodies.
  • Certification in Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation & ISM/ISO Auditor certification.
  • Experience and attendance in DPA (Designated Person Ashore) course.
