Business Need / Purpose of Role

Working in Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC) located in Malaysia, managing the entire local finance operations and supporting the global group holdings GL closing.

Ensure effective and efficient management of the local books of accounts, finalization of accounts and invoice generation. Prior experience in a finance shared services entity with R2R experience. Experience in dealing with VAT returns, TAX returns and tax filings, maintaining fixed asset register, liaison with auditors and vendors.

Duties & Responsibilities

Finance Process Management & Reporting

  • Responsible for accurate book closure and monthly account finalization.
  • Analyse variances in the profit and loss account.
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and accurate inter-company invoices, as per Group guidelines.
  • Manage group inter-company recharges and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the determination of transfer pricing
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculation, reconciliation, and regulatory filings.
  • Upload month-end data to Hyperion and prepares management report packs.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliation and aging calculations.
  • Manage revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial statement consolidation.
  • Liaise with banks and vendors as required
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors and tax inspectors.
  • Provide financial data analysis and insights to stakeholders as required

Cash flow & treasury management

  • Work closely with Global finance teams to improve aging of receivables
  • Work with country operations on supplier management by following Group procurement policy

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure internal controls and compliance with Corporate Handbook, Quality &/or any other documented financial practice
  • Co-responsible for the overall control system and environment with Area General Managers
  • Ensure local statutory compliance on corporate, tax and ROC matters

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise the Geneal Ledger team in Malaysia, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
  • Distribute workload evenly among team members.
  • Address specific internal customer service site issues as needed.

Key Deliverables:

Financial Reporting:

  • Accurate book closure and monthly account finalization.
  • Variance analysis in the profit and loss account.
  • Preparation of management report packs.

Inter-Company Transactions:

  • Timely vendor payments and accurate inter-company invoices.
  • Management of group inter-company recharges and reconciliations.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure internal controls and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Address local statutory requirements related to corporate, tax, and ROC matters.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Collaborate on receivables aging improvement.
  • Follow Group procurement policy for supplier management.

Key Deliverables:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced IT skills (MS - Query/ Excel)
  • Indian tax experience

  • Experience working in a multi-national/international company

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing Group Consolidation
  • Experience in Ship and Port agency related field
  • Knowledge of UNIT4 accounting system
  • Familiar with multinational or international company setting.
  • Experienced in working within a shared service environment.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, with knowledge of regional accounting/tax regulations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as Accounting, Finance, or Business).


  • Professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA) is preferred
