About The Role

The Trainer/Assessor oversees and coordinates the infield training and assessment requirements of Orica Operations personnel. To conduct training and issue Statements of Attainment where required.

This role will be based out of our Shah Alam, Selangor Site.

What you will be doing

  • Manage all site-based components of Orica’s obligations as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO): This involves ensuring that training is completed in accordance with National Standards.
  • Operational safety and group standards governance: It’s crucial to ensure that critical competencies are compliant with these standards.
  • Coordinate training activities across assigned sites: This includes planning, scheduling, and overseeing training activities.
  • Ensure every employee has a training plan and is aware of it: It’s important that each employee understands their individual training plan.
  • Ensure every site manager is aware of the training needs of their employees: This involves regular communication with site managers about their team’s training requirements.
  • Update compliance reporting databases and spreadsheets: Regularly update and maintain records of compliance and training data.
  • Audit employee training plans: Regularly review employee training plans to ensure they meet the minimum standards for their role.
  • Conduct training where needed: Step in to provide training sessions as and when required.
  • Final assessment of training where needed: Evaluate the effectiveness of training and make necessary adjustments.
  • Assess operators’ competency levels and update line managers: Regularly assess the competency levels of operators and provide updates to line managers. This helps ensure that all team members are performing at their best.

What you will bring

  • Comprehensive Understanding of Vocational Education and Training Accreditation
  • Willing to travel to different Orica sites in Malaysia
  • Expertise in Explosives Manufacturing and Handling: Proficient in the processes involved in the production, delivery, and on-bench procedures of explosives.
  • Demonstrated ability in priority management, goal setting, and communication (oral, written, and presentation). Proven experience in short, medium, and long-term planning.
  • Certified in Training & Assessment (TAE)
  • Possess a solid background in a technical or operational role, providing a practical understanding of the field.
