Independently supports the global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public network infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices. Provides information guidance to colleagues with less experience. Solves problems through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment and precedents.
Responsibilities
- Conducts maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
- Ensures appropriate monitoring of network connectivity and ensures high quality data transmission. Provides technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks) and cloud-based networks.
- Dynamic routing: BGP and BGP-EVPN, OSPF
- L2 and L3 redundancy: Multi-chassis aggregation (MC-LAG), HSRP, VRRP
- Sound knowledge of LEAF and SPINE model, BGP-EVPN with Anycast gateway
- Familiar with Cisco Viptela SD-WAN
- Highly experienced in working with Cisco equipment for campus LAN and DC environment.
- Have experience with Aruba wireless systems for enterprise.
- Familiar with the AWS cloud environment
- Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
- Implements the design public and/or private networks including LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks). Design work includes placement and specification of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
- Serve as a liaison with network engineers, vendors, and other third-party providers in installation of network.
- Participates in capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and disaster recovery testing.
- Provides regular status, operational, incident, and change reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience
- 4+ years enterprise networking experience
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts and data center layout
- Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
- Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
- Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects.
- Strong ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
- Strong skills in customer relationship management and change management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or and set applicable goals.
- Strong negotiating and persuasion skills.
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
- General business knowledge
- 5-7 years' enterprise networking experience
- Insurance industry knowledge
- Financial industry knowledge
- Network certification
- Strong expertise with network routing, switching, virtual private networks, wireless, WAN acceleration, protocol analysis, and Internet protocols.
- Strong skills of network cabling design and maintenance.
- Strong expertise configuring, installing, and maintaining VoIP telephony.
- Strong skills utilizing networking testing and design tools.
- Strong expertise and knowledge of cloud networking.
- Strong knowledge of firewall systems, DMZ, and network security design.
- Strong knowledge of unix and unix-based security systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel to global locations to support regional offices
- Strong experience with software defined networking.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, and wireless
- Strong knowledge of VoIP/TDM
- Strong knowledge of Aruba wireless
- Strong knowledge of Riverbed WAN acceleration
