We are seeking a detail-oriented industrial hardware design engineer to design and develop wide range of industrial products under our group of companies. As an industrial hardware design engineer, you will be required to develop the architecture for new hardware product systems, ensure compatibility and integration with the software, conduct bench-test and field test to ensure workability of products, and diagnose and resolve product malfunctions.

To be a successful industrial hardware design engineer, you should be analytically minded and have up-to-date knowledge of the technology development in industrial hardware. You should also be able to easily diagnose design flaws and interpret technical performance data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the group’s business direction and product directions, and contribute in outlining / updating the group’s research and development (R&D) roadmap
  • Meeting with other business units to determine industrial hardware products’ requirements as required by the company’s management and potential users of the products
  • Conducting market research to understand the technical and design specification of competitors’ / similar products available in the market, and derive findings in possible adaptation and modification for the group’s new products
  • Producing schematic design of the new product ideas
  • Designing and developing industrial hardware products and its relevant components such as printed circuit boards (PCB), processors, memory modules, network components, and other as deemed necessary to produce a workable product
  • Design, code, and test features of IoT devices to ensure seamless connectivity with other systems.
  • Create technical documentation and reports on IoT system design, functionality, and maintenance.
  • Conduct training and provide support to users in operating IoT devices and systems.
  • Collaborating with software engineers to ensure software compatibility and integration with the hardware products
  • Designing and integrating IoT-enabled hardware solutions in industrial environments, includes developing hardware systems compatible with IoT protocols
  • Conducting bench-tests and field-tests on the prototype to collect performance data and user’s feedback for analysis and interpretation on possible improvement areas
  • Generating analytics and performance reports for presentation to management / technical advisors and collect feedback for prototype improvements
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing errors and suggesting suitable repairs or modifications to develop the prototype into a fully-functional product
  • Working with manufacturing unit to establish the Process, Procedure and Standard for mass manufacturing of the product developed, and its respective Quality Control mechanism
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in industrial hardware and design trends for the oil palm industry
  • Update Monday.com Workspace for reporting of work progress.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or similar
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an industrial hardware design engineer or similar
  • Candidate who experienced the full hardware product lifecycle, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Safety Approvals and Handover to Production would be given priority
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Allegro, Altium or similar
  • Experience with HDL (Hardware Design Language) such as Verilog, VHDL, and SystemC
  • Basic understanding of software languages and integration processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and design
