- Develop and grow sustainable business and exploit new business potentials through active development of relationships vis-a-vis clients and brokers across regions
- Understand and apply (re)insurance and underwriting principles to standard and non-standard risk situations
- Build partnerships with relevant businesses, evaluate specific opportunities, gain business sponsorship, and identify specific activities to deliver strategic value to business
- Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of both standard and non-standard underwriting guidelines, policy wordings, extensions, and limitations. Able to identify when to alter policy terms and the resulting impact
- Review and challenge market/customer strategies, applying in-depth market understanding and innovative views
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and business channels to generate outputs, proposals and resolve account management issues
- Tactfully navigate key regulatory and risk management obligations of the Company
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU:
- Minimum 3 to 4 years of underwriting experience
- In depth knowledge of insurance, with a focus on Personal Accident, Travel and All Risks/Miscellaneous underwriting experience. Property underwriting will be advantageous
- Experience in producing a profitable portfolio of business within underwriting authority
- Strong analytical skills to assess exposures, coverages, terms and conditions to appropriately assign underwriting decision on risks
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, guidelines, and data analytics
- Encourage collaboration in support of the end-to-end journey
- Strong negotiation, analytical skills, ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Considers the various forms of impact in an end-to-end process and learns eagerly from past projects
- Highly motivated to apply new skills to novel situations
- Constantly looking for the best option, identifying positives and negatives, to make effective decisions
