Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to perform engineering design and provide technical expertise for power distribution systems and electrical equipment in water and energy projects. The role, based in Malaysia, will support projects across Southeast Asia (SEA).

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design:

  • Design, develop, and optimize power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, and other electrical equipment for water treatment plants, power generation, and renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare electrical system designs including single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and equipment layout. Develop technical specifications and ensure they meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform electrical load analysis, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop analysis, and power factor correction to ensure system efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC) and local regulations in SEA countries.
  • Select appropriate electrical components, such as circuit breakers, relays, and protection systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and cost-effectiveness.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors, evaluate technical bids, and ensure electrical equipment meets project specifications.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

  • Provide troubleshooting, technical support, and maintenance strategies for electrical systems, focusing on reliability and operational continuity.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A professional certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with a focus on power distribution systems and electrical equipment in water, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including low and medium voltage systems, and renewable energy systems.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools.
  • Industry Standards: In-depth understanding of relevant standards, such as IEC, IEEE, and local electrical codes across SEA countries.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to perform electrical calculations, load analysis, and fault studies to ensure safe and efficient design.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in water treatment or energy projects, particularly with renewable energy integration.
  • Experience working in SEA markets and an understanding of local regulatory frameworks.
