Role Purpose:

Location: Based in KL 50% & HK 50%

HIS provides electrical and mechanical maintenance services to power stations across the UK, South Africa, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Following key contract wins with our main client, Hargreaves Asia is looking to further strengthen and diversify its engineering talent pool. We are therefore looking for degree qualified engineers to support both our Hong Kong and Malaysian operations within the power generation sector.

Working with our project managers and supervisors, the successful candidate will support in the development and assessment of engineering solutions to maintaining different areas of power generation plant and industrial equipment. Electrical Engineers design, develop, test and supervise the electrical components, including electric motors, machinery controls, lighting and wiring, generators, communications systems and electricity transmission systems.

Works in Hong Kong will attract up to a 100% salary uplift as well as travel and accommodation expenses.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

  • Degree level qualification in relevant engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years site engineering experience in construction or power generation
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Good Command of spoken and written English and Cantonese
  • Ability to use MS Office packages
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and diagrams
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability for results and drive for improvement
  • Demonstrate ability in resolving problems, making decisions and identifying priorities

Desirable qualifications for the role:

  • NEC PM Accreditation
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate
  • Trained in project management and understanding of the cost drivers within your projects and how to manage them.
  • Ability to identify problems and solve them creatively
  • Understand how to grow, develop and lead a team
  • Understand business development and how to build client relationships

Key Accountabilities

General

  • Must be an ambassador for the Hargreaves brand and their subject area
  • Maintain an up to date technical knowledge of relevant systems including improvements in materials/technology and methodology

Client Management

  • Liaise and update Client ROs as required

Operational Safety

  • Ensure adherence to the safety procedures and standards of the company and client
  • Develop and oversee correct methods to carry out works
  • Ensure that equipment is kept in the correct manner and necessary checks and inspections are carried out

Engineering Operations

  • Develop and implement technical solutions for the maintenance and installation of mechanical/electrical equipment [delete as appropriate] e.g. method statement, lifting plan, risk assessments
  • Ensure and uphold quality standards for the company and the client
  • Support PMs and supervisors in conducting the works
  • Seek to drive innovation and productivity to improve safety/cost/schedule/quality performance

Business Development

  • Participate in tender assessment (go/no go processes)
  • Proactively seek and develop new business opportunities

Project Management

  • Deliver weekly progress reports to Project Manager
  • Participate in procurement and vendor selection processes to ensure all resources are as per the specification and available on schedule
  • Report of potential project non-conformance weekly through risk register
