Product Application and Technical Support Engineer

Job Overview:

The Product Application and Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise, product application support, and customer training for HPMT products. This role involves working closely with customers, distributors, and internal departments such as Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and R&D to ensure that our products meet customer needs and perform optimally. The engineer will also participate in product development projects, contribute to market research, and support the creation of marketing materials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer & Technical Support:
  Provide timely technical assistance to customers and distributors, offering guidance on how to use HPMT products effectively to improve productivity and address machining challenges.
• Market Research & Industry Analysis:
  Collaborate with internal teams, including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales, to conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and identify customer needs. Provide insights for product development and improvement.
• Customer Visits & Troubleshooting:
  Assist in planning and executing customer site visits, particularly for key accounts and potential customers. Witness product trials, troubleshoot technical issues, and collect application data to understand customer expectations and improve machining strategies.
• Product Testing & Data Collection:
  Conduct regular visits to key accounts and potential customers to observe product testing, gather detailed application information, and provide technical solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and tool performance.
• Training & Education:
  Conduct technical training sessions and webinars for customers, distributors, and internal staff on new and existing products. Prepare training materials and keep stakeholders informed of the latest advancements in cutting tool technology.
• Technology & Innovation:
  Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and innovations in cutting tools and machining solutions, ensuring that HPMT products remain competitive and cutting-edge.
• Product Development Support:
  Actively participate in R&D projects and new product development initiatives, providing application expertise to support product campaigns, promotions, and marketing activities.
• Marketing Support:
  Assist in the preparation of application-related content for marketing materials, working closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to align technical insights with promotional efforts.

Competencies & Skills:

• CAD & CAM Proficiency:
  Skilled in creating 3D CAD models, developing CAM programs, and designing jigs and fixtures to improve tool performance, efficiency, and productivity. Experience with tools like SolidWorks, Hypermill, or MasterCAM is highly preferred.
• Reverse Engineering & Analysis:
  Strong expertise in reverse engineering cutting tools to analyze competitor designs and develop competitive advantages.
• Project Management:
  Ability to manage multiple projects using tools like Asana, Google Classrooms, or other project tracking software to ensure that project timelines and objectives are met.
• Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences, including customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Background:
  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
• Professional Experience:
  Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or product application role, preferably within the cutting tools or machining sector.
• Software Skills:
  Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, with experience in SolidWorks, Hypermill, or MasterCAM being highly desirable.
• Communication:
  Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
