Job Summary

A highly skilled specialist performs facility and infrastructure maintenance especially for electrical utility, site administration and incident support. Focus is on tasks requiring highly skilled and independent judgement, while contributing to the development of new concepts and techniques for standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Responsible to ensure the functioning, upkeep, maintenance and preventive maintenance of electrical utility is maintained per required specifications and regulation under the Energy Commission Malaysia
  • To carry out switching operations on all electrical systems high voltage and low voltage depending on competency of Chargeman
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on-site to critical facility systems
  • Resolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall team
  • Resolves a BMS alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
  • Leads and coordinates critical infrastructure operations
  • Implements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of opportunities
  • Inspects operation and maintenance of fire suppression, and life-safety systems
  • Develops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacements

2. Vendor Support

  • Supports the work approval process for service providers on maintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's standard operating procedures.
  • In cooperation with vendors, supports modifications to technical files for plants and equipment ensuring files and builds are up-to-date.

3. Site Administration & Incident Support

  • Performs difficult site logs for permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts.
  • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations.
  • Responds to on-site incidents, including failures, problems and delays.
  • Uses substantial understanding in following operating procedures to support on-site administration.

4. Work Orders & Additional Projects

  • Completes routine work requests and circuit installations.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains office equipment (if necessary); supports auxiliary equipment and machines with problem solving and repairs to avoid/minimize downtime.
  • Makes minor changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems, as directed.
  • Carries out infrastructure projects.

5. Collaboration

  • Collaborates with others to resolve facility incidents.
  • Effectively collaborates within the department; may mentor team members on general maintenance activities.
  • Provides stakeholders of inventory needs in order to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.
  • May recommend infrastructure projects

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Chargeman from Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) for at least (AO or A1)
  • Typically, at least 2 years of hands-on working experience as Chargeman in maintaining electrical equipment preferably switch gears, control PLC, Generators, UPS, LT Distribution, Transformers, and switchboard protection relays
  • Willingness to work on shift
