THE JOB

Preparation of financial accounting and statutory reports

  • Manage and coordinate the period end financial closing activities across the Group
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year end financials and statutory reports of accounts
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy in recording all financial transactions as well as meeting the prescribed reporting deadlines.
  • Manage the preparation of Monthly Financial Report for Maritime Services, Operating Profit Report by business segment, G&A cost allocation by business segment and other reports as and when required.

Financial controls and compliance requirements

  • Ensure financial and accounting transactions adhere to all corporate processes, procedures and relevant accounting policies and accounting standards.
  • Manage the MISC Group reporting requirements in relation to corporate and regulatory compliance.
  • Review accounting standard changes and propose updates to MISC Marine accounting policies and procedures.

Reconciliation of accounts

  • Manage the balance sheet account reconciliation exercise and resolve outstanding reconciling items to ensure accuracy, completeness and validity of the Group’s financial position.
  • Coordinate and review intercompany reconciliation between legal entities on monthly basis and resolve reconciling issues in timely manner.

Financial performance review and analysis

  • Review financial performance with necessary analysis on financial results for management report preparation.
  • Analyze data and financial results and provide inputs on areas of improvement as well as opportunities for profits maximization.

Closure of external audit exercise

  • Engage with external auditors to coordinate and plan the audit accordingly to ensure smooth closure of interim and final year-end audit for the Group.
  • Manage the preparation of board papers for approval of the audited financial results and coordinate the required sign-off for the audited financial statement for entities within the Group.

Tax Management

  • Review and validate tax computation.
  • Manage, coordinate and provide necessary information to Group Tax for annual tax computation purposes.

Fixed Assets

  • Ensure compliances to asset accounting policies ;
  • Ensure fixed assets and project-in progress additions, transfers and deletions are timely and accurately updated in the financial statement.
  • Ensure fixed assets are tagged and tally with the fixed assets listing.
  • Assist in handling insurance coverage to ensure that assets are safeguarded.
  • Budget

    • Support in budget planning and verify the budget submission from the Operation Team (Maritime Services Division), while involved in other budget-related processes and seek opportunities for bottom-line improvement.

    Support for Financial Reporting Control (FRC) testing

    • Perform the role as assessor for specific financial control functional checklist assigned and provide accurate assessment with supporting evidence to complete the FRC testing in timely manner.

    Team development and effectiveness

    • Manage, coach and motivate staff to develop a cohesive, progressive and effective team to deliver the business objectives.

    THE PERSON

    • Possessed at least Bachelor-Degree in Finance/ Accounting or equivalent.
    • Preferably a manager who manages/ lead Finance/ Account team.
    • Experienced in application of Financial & Accounting Standards, Policies & Procedures.
    • Good familiarization in Statutory Report, Management Report preparation which includes planning and delivery.
    • Cost Management, Taxation Laws - Direct Tax, Transfer Pricing.
    • This is a two (2) years contractual role.
