Job Purpose

The Head of Middle and Senior Schools (MSS) is tasked with the strategic growth and efficient operation of the MSS. This role focuses on enhancing teaching and learning outcomes for MSS students and fostering professional development among MSS staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee academic, pastoral, and tertiary pathway outcomes for MSS students.
  • Ensure that the principles of Visible Learning guide teaching practices.
  • Lead a dedicated team of educators in designing, delivering, and evaluating a high-quality Australian (International) schooling experience for students in Years 6 to 12.
  • Manage the development, appraisal, and oversight of academic and non-academic staff in the MSS.
  • Support and evaluate MSS Middle Leaders in their roles within the school.
  • Play a pivotal role in school marketing, student recruitment, admissions, and retention.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain AISM's reputation as a high-quality education provider for a diverse multicultural student body.
  • Ensure effective communication and relationship-building with current and prospective parents for both Middle and Senior Schools.
  • Ensure full compliance with NESA regarding the Australian Curriculum and the NSW HSC.
  • Plan and coordinate Assemblies and major school events.
  • Promote ongoing Visible Learning and CIS accreditation.
  • Enhance the integration of information and communication technologies to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Actively participate as a supportive member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Manage the school budget effectively and perform other tasks as directed by the Principal.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly Desirable Experience

  • Experience as a Principal, Deputy Principal, or Head of School in a Middle and/or Senior School.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in implementing Visible Learning principles (based on Professor John Hattie's research).
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligibility for Teacher registration from your home country and relevant police clearances to work with children are essential.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Education is required.
  • A Master’s Degree or significant postgraduate qualifications, or extensive relevant professional experience, is highly desirable.
