Laboratory Cleaner

POSITION PURPOSE

The laboratory cleaner is responsible for supporting laboratory staff by maintaining glassware, cleaning the laboratory area, organizing chemicals and reagents and disposing of waste.

Reporting Line: The position reports to the Senior Technical Officer under close direction. Supervisory

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collect, clean and store glassware and laboratory equipment and ensure they are ready for use.

2. Assist technical officers in keeping the laboratories and storerooms clean and orderly.

3. Under supervision of technical officers, provide assistance in laboratory waste disposal and other safety related monthly checking.

4. Maintains a clean lab environment including laboratory benchtop working areas and instrument rooms by performing laboratory cleaning duties and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned in the laboratory.

5. Other duties as directed from time to time.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Knowledge, training or experience relevant to the duties to be performed; or completion of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent without work experience.

2. Service delivery: Basic knowledge of cleaning processes and ability to follow instructions as directed in cleaning the glassware according to standard laboratory protocols.

3. Communication: Able to communicate in simple English and Malay language.

4. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent needs to be physically fit and healthy
