Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Field Operations & Irrigation, the Irrigation Supervisor position works closely with our Agronomists to ensure that both fresh (water from the reservoirs) and Lagoon (‘green’ water from the biodigester) irrigation water is applied to the crops in accordance with our irrigation scheduling plan.

As part of F&N’s environmental good management practice goals, optimizing water use efficiency is a critical objective within the irrigation plan. With oversight and support from the Assistant Manager – Field Operations & Irrigation, the Irrigation Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the right amount of irrigation water is applied in the right location at the right time (our Irrigation 3R protocol). To assist with the Irrigation 3R (I3R) principle our irrigation equipment will have a significant amount of technology and operate 24hr/day during peak water demands. Utilizing a roster system, our Irrigation Supervisor will be required to be on-call outside of ‘normal’ work hours.

Key Accountabilities
 Follow all Health and Safety guidelines as specified by F&N AgriValley Health and Safety Protocol.
 Delivery of the I3R protocol as defined by the General Manager - Agriculture.
 Have explementary team leadership skills including the care and wellbeing of the Irrigation Operators team, strong communication both upstream and downstream, and the desire and passion to achieve excellence.
 Fully utilize irrigation software to monitor irrigation performance and water application rates.
 Organize and management the on-call irrigation management roster system and take calls outside of normal hours as required.
 Ensure all irrigation equipment is maintained to the highest level, undertaking preventative maintenance as required by the manufacturer, Assistant Manager – Field Operations & Irrigation, and Workshop Manager.
 Ensure cleanliness and organization in work areas, taking care of equipment related to the operations and maintenance of irrigation equipment, and manage spare parts as required.

Job Requirements
 At least 3 years’ experience in crop farming, agriculture, or related field.
 Excellent leadership capabilities and have a passion for delivering irrigation excellence to achieve yield and forage goals.
 Mechanical knowledge of irrigation systems, pumps, and generators.
 Ability to be able to utilize and interpret data coming from the irrigation systems via telematics.
 Requirement to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks from time to time.
 Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to deliver on the I3R protocol.
 Sound knowledge of irrigation systems operation and maintenance is a requisite.
 Ability to interpret irrigation performance and water application rates via a mobile device.
 As part of a roster system, be available to carry out on call duties outside of normal work hours to attend to any issues relating to the irrigation system.
 Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
