Key Responsibilities :

  • Product Strategy, Selection & Category Management
    • Develop and execute merchandising strategies for all product categories, ensuring an optimal mix of high-demand, high-margin items.
    • Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and sales data to curate the product range.
    • Manage seasonal, promotional, and special event assortments in line with market demand.
    • Craft seasonal plans by category and store to maximize profitability and enhance brand presence.
    • Ensure consistency of product availability across all stores.

    2. Supplier / Vendor Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers / vendors.
    • Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and promotional opportunities with suppliers.
    • Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of products.

    3. Inventory Management

    • Oversee stock levels and manage inventory turnover to minimize waste and stockouts.
    • Collaborate with logistics and store operations to ensure efficient distribution of merchandise.
    • Implement demand forecasting and replenishment strategies.

    4. Pricing & Profitability

    • Set pricing strategies that maximize sales and profit margins while remaining competitive in the market.
    • Monitor the profitability of each category and make adjustments to pricing or product mix as needed.
    • Manage promotional pricing and markdowns effectively.

    5. Sales & Performance Analysis:

    • Analyse sales reports, market trends, and customer feedback to assess the effectiveness of product strategies.
    • Identify underperforming products and categories and implement corrective actions.
    • Provide regular performance updates to management.

    6. Store Presentation & Merchandising Standards:

    • Work closely with store teams to ensure consistent merchandising displays and standards across all locations.
    • Guide store layout and product placement to enhance customer experience and increase sales.

    7. Team Management:

    • Lead and develop a team of merchandisers, providing guidance and training to ensure high performance.
    • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., marketing, store operations) to align merchandising efforts with business goals.

    8. Compliance & Regulations:

    • Ensure all merchandising activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and legal standards.
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations, including product labelling, health, and safety requirements.

    Key Requirements:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in merchandising, retail management, or a related role, preferably within the convenience store or retail industry.
    • Skills:
      • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
      • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
      • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
      • Leadership and team management experience.
      • Proficiency in inventory management systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
