In this role, you will play a key part in leading and supporting engineering tasks on assigned projects, from concept to execution. You will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions, preparing cost estimates, managing project documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality proposals and designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Engineering: Perform application engineering tasks for assigned projects, ensuring technical specifications and project requirements are met.
  • RFQ Management: Manage requests for quotations (RFQs), gather essential information, develop initial concepts, and research components, devices, and associated costs to estimate project pricing.
  • Technical Clarifications: Provide technical support and clarify specifications during the offering phase to ensure alignment with customer expectations.
  • Project Qualification: Oversee project quality by conducting final reviews, progress assessments, and scope and concept reviews, ensuring all deliverables meet the required standards.
  • Costing & Proposals: Prepare accurate cost estimates, conceptual solutions, and technical proposals. Ensure timely and high-quality completion of all deliverables.
  • Presentation: Present concepts, technical solutions, and costing details during internal, corporate, and client review meetings.
  • Project Handover: Lead project kick-off meetings and ensure that all technical, conceptual, and costing details are effectively communicated to the project team.
  • Cost Engineering: Support cost engineering tasks and assist team members in ensuring accurate cost estimations when required.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation, including costing details, quotations, and correspondence with vendors.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers to clarify pricing, split costs into relevant categories (e.g., system, transportation, packaging, training), and ensure accurate price offerings.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure proposals are completed on time, even under tight schedules, while maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field from a reputable university (2nd Upper Honours or above).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with expert-level experience in SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to think independently and innovatively.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability in project execution.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, SME/start-up environment.
