Key scope and requirement
System administration for bank’s enterprise storage and data protection software (backup/recovery) infrastructure encompassing SAN/NAS storage subsystems, SAN switches, network switches, tape libraries, backup appliances and enterprise backup software (Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, PPDM) to attain 24 x 7 x 365 system availability and safeguard bank’s data.
• To design migration strategy, planning, monitoring, infrastructure readiness and implementation for bank projects, to address obsolescence and organic capacity growth by applying technology refresh or optimum upgrade methodology.

• Provides on-call support to address and fix system anomalies escalated by operations and users.
• Collaborate with section head in defining new hardware architecture, design, implementation and support of storage and backup environment to attain operation efficiency, cost effectiveness, resiliency and scalability.

• Conform to established storage and backup checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Change Management and bank’s policies and procedures for daily operation and support tasks for standardization and ease of management.
• Perform and participate in disaster recovery exercise and testing as required to comply regulatory requirements and to meet defined RTO and RPO.
Manage, collaborate and implement bank’s storage and backup related projects/initiatives which is small to medium scale to achieve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness across all deployments.
• Investigate and troubleshoot storage/backup related incidents/problems, system outages, system degradation and review impact of supported systems to provide resolution within defined SLA.

• Perform periodic capacity planning; observe trending and configuration management (asset management) for storage/backup components in accordance to ISO/IEC 20000 (ITSM) compliance.
• Attain, explore and adopt new technologies on storage and backup solutions to ensure bank’s storage environment is up to date with relevant capabilities and technology.

• Maintain documents for storage and data protection team to ensure quality and precise documentation relating to storage/backup infrastructure topology, architecture and inventory.

• Setting up backups for production, UAT and DR servers and storage systems and performing restores as per user requirement. The below tasks to be executed based on the requirement by the bank:- Review, optimize and rebuild all backup policies if required.  Perform backup agent version upgrades for servers and clients.

 Provide support for application and database backup issues.  Assist in restoration for open system applications if the data is being protected by backup software such as NetBackup, PPDM and Cohesity.

• Analyze the backup infrastructure performance.  Perform troubleshooting on Backup / recovery job.  Initiate escalation to storage vendor for resolution for high severity incidents.  Provide ownership of troubleshooting process, if multiple vendors involved  Provide / Prepare daily backup / restore report as per bank's request in a predefined format (ad hoc basis)  Submit incident / problem report management, after each problem had been resolved if necessary

Setup, customize, install, monitor, tune, maintain and support new system deployments, upgrades and engineered system in accordance to Group’s strategy/governance, to meet targeted live date, SLA and data being protected on system live date.

• Update patch register and maintain asset inventory with latest info and configuration.
• Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Skills Needed: Minimum 5 - 10 years’ experience in supporting, administering and operating large enterprise class storage/backup infrastructure. Jira and confluence administrator, Atlassian certification on Jira software

• Capable to administer and support EMC SAN Storage/backup appliances (PowerMax 8000, Unity Series, Power Store, Data Domain), Pure Storage (Flash Blade,X series) HPE SAN (Nimble, Primera and Alletra) series, EMC Navisphere / UniSphere Manager,SSMC, EMC SRDF, Oracle Tape library,Veritas NetBackup version 8. X, Cohesity,PPDM ,IDPA, Dell EMC ECS Object storage, Oracle ZFS SAN Storage and Brocade SAN Switch/Directors.

Profound knowledge and vast experience in IT operations, infrastructure and IT Project delivery in accordance to ITIL framework.
