Purpose of Job / Job Summary

Lead the team in managing, negotiating, and executing contracts to support project delivery. They ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements, mitigate risks, optimize procurement processes, and resolve disputes, align contract performance and enhance overall project performance

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Analyze quotations during the procurement stage to identify the most effective options for procurement.
  • Review all received quotations and develop negotiation strategies with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve targeted amounts Propose strategies for negotiating effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve targeted amounts.
  • Verify the accuracy of budget extraction from the main project budget.
  • Negotiate to control and mitigate all contractual and commercial risks within subcontract agreements.
  • Review and validate documents for supplier and contractor award recommendations, including justification and budget status explanations.
  • Check and evaluate all agreements and contracts before execution.
  • Perform contract administration checks and enforce strict cost control during work processing.
  • Respond to payment claims within contract timeframes and certify recommendations for progress claims from subcontractors.
  • Monitor budgets, costs, and cash flow projections, providing updates as necessary.
  • Ensure all relevant back-charges are raised when preparing certifications for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Resolve disputes and outstanding issues with subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit main contract payment claims.
  • Follow up on all client instructions, variations, and notified claims.
  • Attend meetings with clients to resolve outstanding issues and coordinate meetings with all related parties.
  • Liaise with the HQ Commercial department for monthly reporting.
  • Identify and report contractual claims with supporting documentation for clients.
  • Assess and evaluate contractual risks and opportunities for the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree of relevant discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering industry,
  • Candidate with extensive managerial experiences will be considered as Deputy Contract Manager or Contract Manager
  • Strong knowledge of SMM principles, contract law, construction contracts, and the Security of Payment Act.
  • Proven ability in contract drafting, procurement negotiation, contract procurement negotiations, and contract administration and dispute resolution
  • An eye for details to capture critical details and strong focus on cost-consciousness.
