What is the role about?

  • Product Development: Collaborate with cross functional team in new product development or benchmarking product. Create prototypes and conduct sensory evaluations. Optimize existing products for improved taste, texture, and shelf life.
  • Research and Innovation: Keep abreast current industry trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies in the food industry. Propose and explore innovative ingredients, processes and packaging solutions. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    Ensure that all products meet food regulatory and safety standards. Conduct regular quality checks and analyze data to maintain consistent product quality. Collaborate with quality control team to address any quality-related issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Trial Run:
    Work closely with marketing, production and warehouse teams to align product development with company objectives. Coordinate product trials, scale-ups, and commercialization efforts. Provide technical support to production and troubleshooting assistance when needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain detailed records of research, experiments, and formulations. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and progress to management. Proactively initiate and follow up all I&R activities include lab-scale sample upon stakeholder request.
  • Cost Management:
    Monitor and control project budgets to ensure cost-effective product development. Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising product quality.
  • Housekeeping & 5S practice: Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices in I&R lab & demo kitchen to maintain lab hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Any other ad hoc task as requested by the immediate superior from time to time.

Are you the one?

  • Bachelor Degree in Food Technology / Food Science / Culinology or related academic background.
  • Over 3-4 years proven track record in I&R/Product Development/Application Specialist of food industry (specialized in manufacturing plant).
  • Preferable working experienced with a strong background in the Dairy, Ice cream, Sauces or Flavor house industry.
  • Monitor quality control procedures to ensure that products meet regulatory and company standards.
  • SAP exposure would be added advantage.
  • Able to quickly build excellent relationships with internal and external partners as well as working with remote teams.
  • Well knowledge in food production and processing, and knowledge of food safety standards/certifications (FSSC, ISO, HACCP, GMP, Halal, etc) is an added advantage.
  • Understand food science applications, sensory principles, nutrition, and labelling requirement.
  • Bahasa Malaysia and English. Familiar with Mandarin would be added advantage.
  • Well knowledge in food production and processing, and knowledge of food safety standards/certifications (FSSC, ISO, HACCP, GMP, Halal, etc) is an added advantage.
  • Understand food science applications, sensory principles, nutrition, and labelling requirement.
