Job Purpose:
The Counsellor is responsible to provide professional counselling service and support to students and employees who are experiencing a wide range and degree of emotional and psychological difficulty in order to ensure student retention, academic achievement and progression.
Areas of Responsibility:
· Responsible for the development and maintenance of effective counseling systems to identify at-risk students
· Provide educational and vocational counseling, assessment, career guidance and job placement assistance to students.
· Compile and study occupational, educational and economic information to aid students in making and carrying out educational objectives.
· Assist students to understand and overcome social and emotional problems.
· Provide assistance and guidance to students on choice of subjects, course, career opportunities and other matters relating to their course of study.
· Provide personal counseling to students with problems of non-academic nature.
· Coordinate and assist in providing counseling pertaining to disciplinary issues for the students.
· Assist in developing and coordinating development and skill enhancement programmes/ workshops/seminars for students.
· Provide support and assistance in all coordination, administration and operation work to ensure the success of projects and university organized events such as Induction, Graduation Ceremonies, student activities and others.
· Attend to enquires on courses and participate in exhibition/educational fairs if required.
· Coordinate and conduct evaluation in gathering feedback from students pertaining to overall academic & non-academic issues and provide statistical report to Management.
· Update the contents of counseling policies/procedures and to propose updated information to be included in lecturer/student handbooks.
· Provide job placement services to graduating students and enhance student employability by organizing workshops, seminars and talks by industry professionals.
· Perform any other duties that may assigned by the Management from time to time.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Counselling/Psychology or other related discipline with specialisation in Counselling
· Must be a registered Counsellor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia
· At least 3 years of related work experience in counselling
· Knowledge and understanding of counselling principles, methods and techniques
· Ability to listen attentively and comprehend with empathy and understanding without prejudice or judgement
· Knowledge of and skill in using computer software e.g. Microsoft software applications
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate comfortably with students and employees in a courteous and professional manner
· Possess a good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
· Possess good planning, coordinating, presentation and time management skills
· Creative, resourceful, customer focused, self motivated and results oriented
· Good interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills
· Ability to maintain emotional stability
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month

Education:
- Bachelor's (Preferred)
Experience:
- Counselling: 3 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Registered Counsellor Cert with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (Required)
