This position provides support to the General Manager and Group Finance in providing continuous leadership and guidance in matters relating to the financial operation of the Yap Ah Shak House Group of companies. Our Finance Manager will be responsible in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, overseeing daily operations of the Accounts department activities as well as internal control procedures including ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the General Manager in the budgeting & forecasting processes.
  • Responsible for financial reporting to the General Manager and Group Finance.
  • Coordinates the month-end closing, prepares all required journal entries, performs analytical reviews of the financial statement and justify variances from the budget.
  • Coordinates the reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheets and fixed asset accounting operations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable tax laws which includes supervises preparation and review of tax & governmental reports and ensures timely payment of monies as required.
  • Reviews and authorises accounts receivable adjustments, transfers and miscellaneous entries.
  • Ensures proper and timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance policies.
  • Directs cash management activities to ensure the proper use and timely availability of funds.
  • Conducts/oversees monthly audit of general cashier.
  • In-charge of annual internal and external audit processes.
  • Information security: identify and regularly review the classification levels of all information of Accounts department.
  • Safeguard the security of the company's information and computing assets and comply with the implemented Information Security Policy and all practices and supporting procedures designed in accordance with the policy.
  • Interviews, selects, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines accounting personnel.
  • Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required.
  • Provides information and assistance to other staff members with regard to accounting functions.
  • Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance / Hospitality management.
  • At least 2 - 5 years of experience in supervisory role.
  • Candidate with working experience in hospitality accounting operations is preferred.

Desirable skills / knowledge

  • Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information.
  • Prioritisation skills necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Effective management, leadership, organisational and communications skills (written & spoken English & Bahasa Melayu).
  • Ability to work flexible schedule.
  • Prolific in all Windows Based Software Application and strong level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong team player, enthusiastic to learn and accomplish the Accounts Department & Yap Ah Shak House's overall goals.

Salary range up to RM10,000 per month depending on years of experience/seniority, skills and qualification.
