Purpose of the Role

You will be a Lead of the HSE team, and will be responsible for HSE related activities. You will lead & attend/ run/ arrange all safety-related programs/activities such as Safety Protocols, PPE Policy, Safety Audit, Waste Management, etc. Meet with internal departments such as QA, Production and related Safety Committee. Enforcing the governmental regulations and responsible for all meetings with external stakeholders: MOH, DOE, and DOSH.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee overall safety protocols.
  • Establish and enforce PPE policy.
  • Revising and upholding PPE policy when necessary
  • Conduct periodic HiRARC, safety audits.
  • Schedule waste management.
  • Chemicals management (including Lab Chemicals).
  • Ensuring safety-related documentation is up to date and in order.
  • Enforcing governmental regulations
    • Ministry of Health (MOH)
    • Department of Environment (DOE)
    • Department of Safety & Health (DOSH)
  • Managing forklift policy.
  • Periodic safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure enterprises fully comply with national and legal requirements in the field of occupational safety and environment.
  • Check, monitor and recommend tools for working environment management. Specifically, such as pollution discharge permits, occupational safety regulations, response measures, prevention of occupational accidents, etc.
  • Environmental impact assessment according to international standards. Monitor, inspect and propose measures to overcome and limit environmental factors such as natural disasters, pollution, etc.
  • Identify risks and assess risks. From there, propose measures to control and remedy safety related to machines and workers.
  • The report assesses situations related to occupational safety and the environment.
  • Inspect the production process, monitor, and detect all unsafe practices or regulatory violations.
  • Assess risks and potential hazards in all operations.
  • Generate secure data analysis reports.
  • Inspect equipment and production processes to ensure safety.
  • Focus on prevention by keeping up with equipment maintenance and staff training.
  • Present safety guidelines to employees during meetings or lecture-style training sessions.
  • Regularly participate in educational activities to update knowledge about health, safety and environmental protection protocols and techniques.
  • Create safety plans that include improvements to existing infrastructure and business processes.
  • Share information, suggestions, and observations with your manager or project leader to create consistency in safety standards across the production team and the company.
  • Investigate the causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions in the work area. Liaise with law enforcement and other investigators if a serious work-related accident occurs.
  • Review and report on employees' compliance with health, safety and environmental rules.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to you by the management from time to time either within or out of your current scope of employment must perform accordingly

Requirements & Person Specifications

  • Bachelor degree/ diploma in Safety Management, Environmental or related, with minimum 3 years of direct experience in HSE major.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, Malaysian both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Strong computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Demonstrate application of knowledge and understanding of key principles in:
    • Safety management and solutions for occupational safety
    • The governmental regulations and laws about HSE
    • Dangerous and toxic factors in the working environment
  • Experience with environmental impact assessment according to international standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of check, monitor, and recommend tools to manage the working environment.
  • Strong understanding of risk identification and risk assessment.
  • You can demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Dynamic, hard working and energetic individual, able to motivate and drive forward the whole production team.
  • Able to plan, organise, evaluate and lead activity schedules and direct the work of others.
  • Strong attention to detail, while also able to see long-term strategic improvements and developments.
  • Exhibit a good attitude and demonstrates interpersonal skills to work with people from different backgrounds.
  • Not afraid or squeamish with working with Insects.

Reporting Lines & Supervision

  • You will be reporting directly to the Factory Director.
