Position: Assistant Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Job Description and Key Result Areas

  • Manage Banking Relationships and Negotiate Loans
  • Prepare and Present Financial Reports: Develop and present detailed financial reports for monthly management meetings.
  • Collaborate on Budgets and Performance Tracking: Work closely with executives and business leaders to create budgets and monitor profit/loss performance by business unit and on a consolidated basis.
  • Address Financial Challenges: Apply financial and treasury expertise to devise solutions for emerging financial issues and liaise with other departments and business units to address various concerns.
  • Provide Financial Advice: Offer strategic advice on financial matters affecting the company as a whole.
  • Supervise and Mentor Staff: Oversee and guide junior staff members, ensuring their work aligns with company standards and prepares accurate financial reports and submissions.
  • Arrange Financial Audits and Reviews: Coordinate and manage financial audits and reviews as necessary, and handle the transfer of funds between bank accounts as required.
  • Implement Control Systems: Recommend and maintain a system of policies and procedures to ensure effective control over Finance Department activities.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by CFO.
  • Ideal Candidate

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (APLUS, Autocount and Microsoft Excel.
    • Familiarity with reconciliation, and financial reporting.
    • Strong accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and data entry.
    • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies and identify opportunities for improvements.
    • Communication skills – Good verbal and written communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
