Position: CNC Machinist – EDM Specialist (Electrical Discharge Machining) Working Location: Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) Pulau Indah (Selangor) Working hours: shift rotation Working Duration: 6-12 months (renewable/conversion to permanent) Salary: RM2,500 to RM4,500 *interview mode: face-to-face*c Job Description: The CNC Machinist – EDM Specialist is responsible for operating and programming CNC three-axis machines and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to manufacture precision components. This role requires a deep understanding of machining processes, programming skills, and the ability to work with complex technical drawings and specifications. Key Responsibilities: 1. CNC Three-Axis Machining: o Program and operate CNC three-axis machines to produce parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. o Set up CNC machines, including the selection and installation of appropriate tooling, workholding devices, and materials. o Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy and quality, making real-time adjustments to tool paths, feed rates, and cutting speeds as needed. o Perform routine inspections of parts during and after machining, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensional accuracy. 2. Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM): o Operate EDM machines, including both wire and sinker EDM, to produce complex and precise parts, especially those with intricate shapes and tight tolerances. o Set up EDM equipment, including selecting appropriate electrodes, wire diameters, and dielectric fluids for the specific job. o Monitor the EDM process, adjusting parameters such as voltage, current, and pulse duration to optimize machining performance and surface finish. o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrode wear, wire breakage, or poor surface finish, ensuring consistent quality in all EDM operations. 3. Programming and Optimization: o Write and modify CNC programs using G-code and CAM software, optimizing tool paths and machining strategies for efficiency and accuracy. o Develop EDM programs, setting precise machining parameters to achieve the desired part geometry and surface quality. o Continuously improve machining processes by experimenting with new tools, techniques, and cutting parameters, aiming to reduce cycle times and enhance part quality. 4. Tool and Equipment Maintenance: o Perform regular maintenance on CNC and EDM machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components. o Calibrate machines and tools to ensure consistent accuracy and performance over time. o Report any mechanical issues or equipment malfunctions to supervisors, working with maintenance teams to minimize downtime. 5. Quality Control: o Conduct thorough inspections of finished parts, ensuring they meet all dimensional, surface finish, and tolerance requirements. o Document inspection results and maintain records of machining parameters, material certifications, and quality checks for traceability. o Address any non-conformities by reworking parts or adjusting machining processes to meet quality standards. 6. Safety and Compliance: o Follow all safety guidelines and procedures when operating CNC and EDM equipment, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. o Handle materials and tools safely, minimizing the risk of injury or equipment damage. o Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to machining operations, such as ISO standards. 7. Collaboration and Communication: o Work closely with engineers, designers, and quality control teams to understand part requirements and specifications. o Communicate any issues, challenges, or suggestions related to machining processes to supervisors and team members. o Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on process improvements, tool selection, and production scheduling. 8. Continuous Learning and Development: o Stay updated with advancements in CNC machining and EDM technology, attending training sessions and workshops as needed. o Experiment with new machining techniques and tools to enhance productivity and part quality. o Provide feedback on equipment performance, suggesting upgrades or replacements to maintain state-of-the-art machining capabilities. Qualifications: • Education: Relevant diploma or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. • Experience: Proven experience (1-2 years) in operating CNC three-axis machines and EDM equipment, with a strong understanding of machining principles and practices. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) and CAM software, as well as experience with EDM setup and operation. • Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and strong commitment to quality in all tasks. • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and team-oriented environment.
