Who are we?

Mutant is a weird name for an agency, we know. We’d love to tell you there’s a cool reason for it - like being exposed to gamma radiation or being bitten by a spider - but alas, our origin story is a little less dramatic.

We started in 2012 as a PR agency, led by one individual with a simple idea - to grow an agency that focused on getting business results and removing agency fluff.

Are you the ONE we're looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Public Relations Senior Consultant/Manager, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, who will be responsible for planning and executing client communication strategies, while coordinating with Mutant's Social, Content, and Brand arms for integrated campaigns.

Apart from contributing to the day-to-day client and project management, with a portfolio of consumer and corporate brands across the B2B and B2C space, you’ll take the lead in proactively managing Mutant’s top consumer and corporate PR clients, proposing communications strategies while executing them flawlessly alongside the team. You’ll also be responsible for growing and mentoring the team, being account leads with strong client counsel, and managing our accounts profitably, as well as assisting with business development proposals when required.

What you'll be getting up to:

• You’ll plan, implement, analyse and optimise all PR activities from formulation through to execution, aligning them with the client’s key business objectives
• You’ll support on Mutant’s social media offering that drives the creativity and impact for global, regional, and local client businesses.
• You’ll work closely with clients and Mutant’s content, brand & PR teams to create aligned communications across all channels and to ensure both strong commercial and consistent brand messages
• Project management and strong execution to ensure all PR activities are delivered according to the clients' budget and timelines, achieving established KPIs are your strong suit
• You’ll track and evaluate KPIs according to scope, and provide recommendations that are necessary adjustments to optimise overall effectiveness based on measurements
• You’ll combine creativity with knowledge of the media to recognise media angles and generate positive news coverage, profile pieces, and features across a broad media spectrum
• You’ll fully participate in brainstorms and creating workable programmes for new business and upsell existing clients
• You have established professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and the media.

What you need to be successful in this role:

• You have 5-9 years of experience in Public Relations in Malaysia and preferably in an agency environment.
• You have a track record in developing new business proposals and strategies with a high win rate.
• You’re a confident self-starter, able to drive conversations at the C-suite level
• You have a solid understanding of the issues and opportunities in the communications industry
• You have an excellent command of the English language and Bahasa Melayu or Chinese.
• You’re meticulous and able to perform under pressure.
• You are passionate about client management – maintaining a high client satisfaction level motivates you.
• You enjoy working collaboratively across different teams and being a mentor to juniors.
• You have a solid understanding of the media landscape.
• Existing relationships with journalists in Malaysia are advantageous.
