QA/QC Engineer

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 5:30pm)
Saturday (8:30am - 12:30pm)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced QA/QC Engineer specialising in steel fabrication and formwork for construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and quality control activities related to the fabrication formwork systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role requires a deep understanding of steel fabrication processes, construction materials, and formwork systems used in large-scale projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:

• Set up and implement QA procedures for steel fabrication and formwork based on project specs, industry standards, and best practices.
• Develop inspection procedures to check materials like steel grades, welds, and bolts, ensuring they meet required standards.
• Work closely with design and engineering teams to solve any design or quality issues.

Quality Control:

• Inspect steel fabrication activities (welding, cutting, assembly, painting) to ensure they meet project requirements.
• Perform visual inspections to confirm the quality of welds and materials.
• Oversee the formwork installation process to ensure it meets design specs and safety standards.
• Check the accuracy and alignment of steel structures during assembly.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and protection of materials to avoid damage.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Keep detailed records such as inspection reports, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Make sure all documents are properly maintained for audits or project handover.
• Coordinate with third-party inspectors as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in QA/QC roles within steel fabrication and formwork systems for construction projects.
• Familiarity with steel fabrication standards and formwork standards
• Having a certificate in welding is a plus.

Skills Required:

• Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and formwork systems.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document and report quality control issues effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineers, fabricators, and site managers.

This QA/QC role is highly specialised for projects involving steel structures and formwork systems, ensuring that all fabrication and installation processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
