Job Description:
- Product Development and Strategy: Develop products that align with the R&D strategy for personal care, focusing on upcoming technology platforms for emollients, emulsifiers, polymers, and surfactants & spearhead organic revenue growth through innovative solutions that meet customer needs and industry standards.
- Chemical Synthesis: Expertise in chemical synthesis specifically within the personal care industry to develop effective formulations and processes & ensure that product development efforts are innovative and scientifically sound, driving high-quality outcomes.
- Laboratory Practices: Oversee all product development activities in compliance with PETRONAS Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines & uphold rigorous standards of good laboratory practices, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and proficient report writing.
- Portfolio Enhancement and Innovation: Enhance the existing product portfolio by developing innovative solutions that address unmet industry needs. Maintain high product quality through precise product line specifications while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Team Leadership and Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to the team, enabling them to select optimal processes for effective product development & foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- PhD with a focus on organic chemistry and polymer chemistry is an added advantage
Requirements:
- Over 10 years of experience in product development, ideally within the oleochemical industry or with ingredient manufacturers.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in team leadership or management.
- Strong understanding of molecular design, chemical synthesis processes, and analytical techniques specifically related to personal care formulations.
- Basic familiarity with IP analysis and experience in open innovation practices.
- Proven self-starter with exceptional time and project management abilities.
