  • Experience of at least four (4) years in the trading/distribution industry is a plus point.

Skills

  • Possess a good command of written & and spoken English & and Malay.
  • Converse and reading in Mandarin essential when covering China and its counterparties.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, especially PowerPoint/presentation software.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management/logistics.
  • Can strategize and solve problems using a creative and innovative mindset.
  • Possess an eye for opportunities – able to spot business opportunities.
  • Possess strong leadership and organisational skills such as excellent communication, collaboration and motivation skills.

  • Having built up its network of counterparties over the years is preferable but not essential.

  • Job Description, Function & Responsibility:

    Purpose

  • To drive the development and formulation of Group objectives, strategies and plans in line with the Group Vision and Mission, the Group's profitability and the achievement of plans and targets through effective control of performance.
  • To identify and ensure feasibility and competitiveness of new projects, negotiate on ventures, and pricing and manage the management reporting system to support and ensure the right decision-making.
  • To develop and lead an ongoing programme of process innovation and continuous business improvement initiatives across the Group, with a strong focus on reviewing and improving the Group's systems and processes that drive greater service excellence, cost efficiencies and adherence to contractual compliance/ operational standards and efficiencies across all departments and services.
  • To provide day-to-day operational management of the New Business Development Department.
  • Business Plan and Strategy

  • To lead and manage the development and implementation of Group’s long-term objectives, business strategies and plans through a systematic and thorough analysis of its business position/external analysis and competitive advantage/internal analysis.
  • To ensure continued growth and sustainability of Group’s business in line with its business vision, mission, strategies and policies.
  • To strategize and drive the development and consolidation of Group’s annual business plan through a comprehensive evaluation of previous and current achievements and future opportunities to ensure strategic integration and alignment with its business objectives and targets.
  • Improvement of Business Process

  • To take the lead in the analysis, development and implementation of existing and new business processes.
  • To support the business to deliver better value and efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes
  • To establish a new approach for improving efficiency and operational excellence in Group’s activities by identifying cost, time-saving activities and resource optimisation exercises to materialise incremental revenues through value-adding activities.
  • To advise internal stakeholders on key business process risks and issues, providing workable solutions as required.
  • Project Detailed Feasibility Study

    To lead the commercial assessment and help identify opportunities in expediting business ventures and the viability of a strategic intent through a Feasibility Study incorporating commercial, technical and economic evaluation on the market, infrastructure, logistics, legal, environment, risk and social economy to ensure its strategic fit to the Group.

    Leadership:

  • To drive the development of a competent working team that will enhance and sustain staff capabilities in achieving high-performance delivery by determining talent requirements, instilling values of integrity, and providing leadership coaching and guidance.
  • To Implement internal successions to ensure the right leadership and capabilities in executing their jobs.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of self and team members on the marketplace and commercial environment relevant to the designated portfolio and suggest strategic plans to maximise potential growth.
  • Constantly update and grow the team by exposing them to industry best practices, and signing them up for relevant, beneficial courses/ conferences.
  • Facilitates regular team meetings to discuss issues, share achievements, and provide direction.
  • Risk Management

  • To plan and review the implementation of risk management processes and methodologies to establish/enforce the risk mitigation, compliance and control procedures within the Group, in line with the business requirements that would provide transparency regarding risk management in marketing activities.
  • To ensure that risks are diversified/minimised so that exposures are not concentrated in a selected group of products, counterparts and countries.
  • Networking and Relationship Building

    Foster and sustain effective working relationships and rapport with the government authorities, business and management institutions, national and key industry players and service providers in order to keep abreast with the latest developments in the relevant markets and capitalise on insider status and strategic alliances to capture opportunities for new business ventures and enhance public confidence in the company business solutions, products and services.

    Develop and implement distinctive mindsets, behaviours, and culture within the working team to achieve high performance in work by adopting and implementing value interventions, tools, and methodologies to promote and instil a high sense of commitment, ownership, integrity, and loyalty and contribute to operational excellence.

    Reports Generation & Analysis:

  • Submission of reports to immediate superior on planned/carried out tasks and activities based on an agreed timeline.
  • To prepare a sales forecast report based on an agreed timeline, if requested by immediate superior.
