Key Responsibilities:
Fish Husbandry:
- Responsible for the day-to-day care and management of Gourami fish populations, including feeding, monitoring water quality, and maintaining appropriate environmental conditions.
- Perform routine health checks and identify signs of disease or stress in fish populations.
- Implement strategies for disease prevention and treatment as necessary, in coordination with the supervising veterinarian or aquaculture manager.
Breeding and Reproduction:
- Assist in the breeding and reproduction processes of Gourami fish, including spawning, egg incubation, and fry rearing.
- Monitor breeding tanks or ponds to ensure successful reproduction and optimize fry survival rates.
- Maintain accurate records of breeding activities and population demographics.
Water Management:
- Monitor and maintain water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia levels.
- Conduct regular water exchanges and filtration system maintenance to ensure optimal water conditions for fish growth and health.
- Troubleshoot and address any issues related to water quality or environmental parameters promptly.
Facility Maintenance:
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of aquaculture facilities, including tanks, ponds, and equipment.
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitization, and repair tasks to ensure the safety and functionality of infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other team members to implement improvements in facility design and operational efficiency.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect data on fish growth, feed conversion ratios, and other performance metrics as directed by the aquaculture manager or research team.
- Assist in data analysis and interpretation to evaluate the effectiveness of management practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports or presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for management review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in aquaculture, fisheries, biology, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in aquaculture operations, particularly with Freshwater fish, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of fish husbandry principles, water quality management, and breeding techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
