Qualifications & experience

Educational Background:

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA (or in progress) are an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Malaysian financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
  • Familiarity with construction industry accounting practices is a plus.

Work Experience:

  • Typically, 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.

Internships or Trainee Programs:

  • Relevant internships during studies or trainee programs can be considered valuable experience.

Project-Based Experience:

  • Experience in working with project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting related to construction projects.

Tasks & responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers and journals.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.

Invoice Management:

  • Process and verify invoices from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.

Budget Monitoring:

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets.
  • Track project expenses and provide reports to management.

Payroll Processing:

  • Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
  • Maintain employee records and update payroll information as needed.

Financial Reconciliation:

  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts.
  • Assist in reconciling project costs and variances.

Tax Compliance:

  • Support the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Maintain records necessary for tax audits.

Data Entry and Reporting:

  • Input financial data into accounting software and ensure data integrity.
  • Generate regular financial reports for project managers and stakeholders.

Cost Control:

  • Assist in monitoring and controlling project costs.
  • Provide financial analysis to support project decision-making.

Audit Support:

  • Prepare documentation and assist during internal and external audits.
  • Address audit queries and implement recommended improvements.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Liaise with project managers, suppliers, and other departments regarding financial matters.
  • Provide support in financial planning and analysis
