Overall Purpose of the Job
To improve profitability and enhance competitive advantage by accessing optimum contract rates and commercial terms with new and existing clients across area of responsibility. Managing the commercial input of proposals, bids and tenders. Ensure full compliance with all company internal processes, procedures and legislation. Ensure accurate and complete compliance of commercial packages for enquires, invitations to tender and contract extensions. Providing analysis of the market and competitors positions to maximise the benefit to the area of responsibility.
Key Activities and Accountabilities
1. Conduct detailed financial analysis to support commercial decision-making. Analyse regular financial reports.
2. Analyse sales performance, cost structures, and profitability by product line, customer or region.
3. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
4. Monitor budget vs. actual performance and analyse variances.
5. Work with commercial teams to develop accurate sales forecasts.
6. Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives, such as market expansion, new product launches, or pricing strategies.
7. Evaluate the financial impact of commercial activities and provide recommendations to optimise profitability.
8. Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to understand their financial needs and challenges.
9. Support commercial teams in contract negotiations, pricing decisions, and customer profitability analysis.
10. Act as a trusted advisor, providing financial guidance and ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.
11. Analyse large sets of financial and operational data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
12. Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario planning and decision – making.
13. Ensure data integrity and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
14. Identity financial risks and opportunities within the commercial operations.
15. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
16. Support internal and external audits as required.
Job Knowledge and Qualifications
1. Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field with a focus on the oil and gas industry preferred.
2. Advance degrees (e.g., MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., ACCA) may be advantageous.
3. Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in the relevant role, with a proven track record of team management.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
5. Understanding of commercial operations and the ability to link financial performance with business activities.
