Job Overview:

The Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of operations at the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, regulatory compliance, logistics and safety standards. This role is critical in driving operational excellence while managing resources, staff, and budgets to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring that production schedules are met and that products are manufactured in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure that all products meet stringent quality standards and that operations comply with regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, GMP, ISO, etc.). Implement and maintain robust quality systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Production Planning: Develop and implement production plans, forecasting, and schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing waste and downtime.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of production supervisors, engineers, technicians, and other staff. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Manage the plant’s operational budget, controlling expenses, and ensuring that production remains within budgetary limits. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity. Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the plant.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and to optimize inventory levels.
  • Capital Projects: Lead or support capital expenditure projects, including equipment upgrades, expansions, and new technology implementations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and customers. Ensure smooth communication and collaboration across departments.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences or medical devices industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), FDA, and other regulatory standards. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams.
