Job purpose

To assist the Admissions manager in providing a professional admissions process, involving the receipt, scrutiny and processing of all applications relating to Asia Pacific, and assessing them in relation to agreed criteria and time scales.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. To provide advice and support to staff in faculties, services and to customers verbally and in writing, throughout the admissions cycle, referring to procedures and standard regulations.
  2. Seek and compile detailed information from faculty or service staff, external agencies and customers to ensure the efficient admissions, accommodation and reception of incoming students to the University.
  3. To carry out standard and non-standard administrative processes, including identifying and processing applications that need special consideration, which will include those from international students and students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties, and to liaise with Faculties and specialist services as required.
  4. To make suggestions for developing admissions processes and implementing process improvements where required.
  5. To analyse and manipulate data, to produce reports; and to identify and process applications with non-standard requirements (UKVI, DBS, OH, interviews) and provide appropriate support to ensure the smooth transition from applicant to student and compliance with professional body requirements.
  6. To organise and prioritise own work to ensure it is completed to the agreed timeframe.
  7. To make accurate and effective use of computerised office systems and to create and revise documents, and reports and communicate changes with colleagues and customers.
  8. To work as part of a team, working in a flexible way to ensure the team meets its objectives and timescales.
  9. To receive issues and resolve problems following procedures or guidelines using judgement where necessary to achieve the optimum solution e.g. assist in making admissions decisions for entry to programmes in accordance with the admission requirements of the programme or referring to Faculties as appropriate.
  10. To build and maintain effective working relationships with contacts.

Requirements

  1. Experience of admissions and the student recruitment cycle.
  2. Good working knowledge of technical systems which support recruitment and admissions. e.g. SITS.

What you can expect

The post will offer a salary commensurate with your qualifications and experience and there is up to 20% of annual salary bonus scheme based on performance. The salary offered will be on an incremental pay spine with annual rises, including an annual cost of living increase. All employees are given a health benefits package and good holiday entitlements.

The working week will be from Monday – Friday based in the office, although on a few occasions in the year you may be asked to help at events at weekends or in the evening for which you will receive time in lieu.
